“The Utopia River Retreat was just what we needed after 3 nights camping out in Big Bend. The cabin we stayed in (Kickapoo) was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed (cooking utensils, bath towels, linens). The grounds were peaceful and scenic and had a nice swimming pool and volleyball net as well as riverfront access. “Not as advertised!Double wide outdated trailer. Clean, hot water and heat fine, quiet setting. Ceiling fans in bedrooms were not usable. My bathroom needed at least shampo and a hairdryer. The nice deck is a .4 mile walk. Nice views of hills but no rocky mountains! Upgrading pillows and bedding would be a plus!We made it work but disappointed. ”

“The property is nestled in the Medina mountains in an 11 room resort and spa. The owners met with us each night sharing stories, laughs, wine and food. In the morning we hiked up the mountain trail to a cabin with a back deck that overlooked the hillside. If you want peace, quiet, no children and good old fashion conversation you will not find any better than Escondida Resort. The entire staff is humble, courteous and good people to share a cup of coffee or a laugh. I highly recommend this...

“The little cottage in Medina was very clean, cozy and a nice hub away from the busy! Busy meaning lots of people. The road itself was busy with motorcyclist enjoying the area which was nice to see. Hosts were very responsive, kind and generous. Space is pet friendly and we enjoyed taking walks down thru town and the neighborhood.”

Furniture looked like something you find dumped on side of road. Holes in the walls remote control didn’t work. ”
